Poor Door
Easton had a rough night. No nap. You toddler moms know what that means. Today was cool and autumn like. Reminded us that Easton's fall clothes from last year don't fit him anymore. I went by the kid's consignment store and racked up. (8 pants, 4 t-shirts, 2 button downs, 1 sweater, 2 fleece pullovers, all brand name for $75) Camille and I went by ourselves. When we returned I asked him to try on the pants to see if they fit. He melted. NO! I DON'T WANT TO PUT ON THOSE PANTS I WANT TO WEAR MY SHORTS! I explained - No, you don't have to wear them, you just have to put them on for three seconds for Mommy to see if they fit. More melting, this time with tears and running. NO! I WILL NOT! AAAHHHHH! Then he does it. The fake hit. The one where he swats near your face, but he is smart enough not to actually hit your face. Fine. Time out. This is useless. He runs out of his room (I need to change time out to a new location). I put him back and tell him that if he leaves time out again, then I will take away his blanket. (Despite my best efforts my daughter sucks her thumb and the boy is attached to the blue blanket). This works. Somewhat. Now he is in his room slamming the door against the door stopper. I warn him that he will stop slamming door or Mommy will give him one spank. He slams. I spank. But the rest of time out is peaceful. I go to "release" him and we have to go through the talk.
Mom - Do you know why you were in time out?
Easton - Yes, I pretend to hit Mommy.
Mom - Please tell Mommy you are sorry.
Easton - Sorry Mommy for pretend hitting you.
Mom - Do you know why Mommy spanked your leg?
Easton - Yes, I slam door.
Mom - You need to tell the door that you are sorry.
Easton - But Mommy.....Door not have mouth.
Darn that smart little boy.

First of all, good for you for being consistent!!
Secondly, I want to know if you broke even a little smile after he said, "Door not have mouth."
:-)
Yeah I cracked. I held back the laugh but the smile popped out.
Halarrious! I am beginning to think grandkids are more fun than kids.
