Dinner Diaries

Sloppy Joes

I think this is the first meal I remember making by myself when I was growing up. We always, always, always had hamburger meat. I remember going to the freezer to get one of those little white packages (by the way, I was in HS before I realized that not all meat products came in little white packages) and making Sloppy Joes in the skillet for dinner. Back then I just added ketchup and mustard. My recipe now is only slightly more sophisticated.

Add chopped onion and chopped bell peppers to skillet. Let them cook until they begin to get soft. Add hamburger meat to brown. Add ketchup, brown mustard and a little worcestershire sauce. I took some meat out for Camille before adding the sauces. She refused to eat it, but ended up eating off my plate instead (meat with the sauce) and loved it. Easton only ate his when bribed. He only eats most foods when bribed.
