A new skill

I think I want to learn to sew.

Why can't I sew? How did I miss that? Same reason that I grew up on a farm and know nothing about farming. Or how I've eaten 3 million of Big Granny's famous chocolate and caramel pies and still don't know how to make one. Do I not pay attention to anything???

But sewing. I want to learn. Correctly. Reading a pattern and everything. I know it's expensive and I can get outfits at Wal-Mart for dirt cheap. But I like fabric. I like touching it and choosing it. And I think I would like creating with it. I've tried this with the quilt thing. I don't know how to make quilts but I can sew a straight line and have "made" 5 or 6 of them now. Not real quilts, but two huge pieces of fabric held together by a zillion straight lines. I've taken this skill about as far as I can and the end result is something that is less than impressive. So I surrender. I need help.

One of my crafty friends sews curtains. She has agreed to help me with my first project. Butterick 4945, View E. Wish her luck. She has no idea.

Hmmm....what could be a good goal for you to have this done by? Your anniversary? Too soon? Maybe by fall? Knowing you, you'll get going and have it done next week! Promise to post a picture of it? Of you WEARING it?? :-)

GOOD LUCK with your new endeavor!
