Easton turns 4

It seems that bad camera mom has struck again. Somehow I made through the entire birthday weekend with only a few pictures. I'm very sorry. I know there were other moms who took great pictures so maybe I can share some of those later. As for now, you'll have to use your imagination.

Let's start with Friday night. Spencer plays softball on a church league and they have games every Friday night. It is an understatement to say that Easton LOVES going to these games. He truly feels that he's part of the team. Throughout the week he'll ask me if I've washed his "baseball uniform" because he has a certain shirt that and shorts that he must wear on Friday nights. You can't see it in the pictures but his shirt has baseballs on the front. He even wears his flops to the game and changes into his "baseball shoes" at the ball field to be just like Spencer.

So this is why I went with the Baseball themed birthday party. Fast forward to Saturday morning. There were several yard sales in our neighborhood and I went for a walk before 7 to see if anything interesting would be out. I saw a little doll stroller for Camille and went back to the house to get some cash. I asked if Easton would like to walk with me. You can imagine our delight when the owner saw him and asked what size shoe he wore. It turns out that she had a pair of tiny baseball cleats in his size!! REAL baseball shoes just like Daddy's!!! He told her that his birthday party was later that day and she gave us a tee-ball bat for free. So now he had real baseball shoes and a real baseball bat to take to his baseball party. That's almost more excitement than a 4 year old boy can stand.

Throughout the morning we got things ready for the party and this was my attempt at baseball cupcakes. Not perfect, but recognizable. (those are twizzlers on top)

We have a great park near our house and were able to reserve one of the shelters and the ball field. Easton insisted that "all the boys" would play and "all the girls" would watch. Little did he know that "all the girls" were older than him and he was out-voted. So all the kids got to bat and the adults tried to keep from sweating to death in the outfield. Camille discovered how much fun it was to sit in the dirt and get it into every crevice of her body. After the ballgame we had hot dogs and chips at the shelter. We forgot to bring tongs and such for the grill. Spencer and I have been watching Man vs. Wild on the Discovery Channel and he was inspired to cut down some branches from a tree and do it the old fashioned way. Kudos to the boys for actually pulling this off.

Easton got some really nice gifts including a new bike (thanks to the grandparents for $$) and a golf set from me and Spencer. Okay, just from Spencer. I had nothing to do with it except act really excited when he told me about it. They're little tiny golf clubs in a little tiny golf bag. Very cute. And he can actually hit with them! Better than me. I never could hit that silly golf ball. But Easton was out in the back yard last night popping them from one end to another. Here he is on his inaugural bike ride. He's not quite ready to zoom down the driveway like his BigWheel but I'm sure it won't be long.

Safety Check List:

Training wheels
Helment
Knee pads
Elbow pads...

WHAT!!! No safety goggles?
No ear plugs?
No dust mask?
Also, it appears that the bicycle is NOT equipped with an "ATAD". (anti-tipover alert device).

You really need to be more carful with my grandson:)

LCR, I detect a little SARCASIM with your post?! HA!! My parents still make fun of car seats and tell of how the 'impulsive arm' never goes away (when the car has to come to a sudden stop, my parents still instinctively reach over to the passenger seat to STOP the person from flying forward)!

Jenny, Easton was going so well until he attempted the wave! Shame on you! haha So glad he's enjoying his new "big boy toy". I'm sure it won't be long until he's flying down the driveway hill like he did with his three wheeler.

Who Me?
SARCASIM?
Never!!!

When I was growing up skinned knees and scraped elbows were a rite of passage. Scars and scabs were worn with pride and served for occasion to tell the story of how daring we were, or how brave we were.

Those were "the good ole days."

I'm just waiting for the moment that he and the bike go crashing on the concrete. He's tipped it over twice, but both times the bike was not moving so the damage was nil. And you are mistaken about the ATAD. It's a very distinct alarm that sounds just like Easton's voice saying, "MOOOOMMMMYY!!!" any time the bike begins to loose balance.

Ah, sorry. Lose balance.
