The doors on the bus go open and shut...
Yesterday I picked up Camille from Ms. Amy's house and was in route to get Easton. About a mile into my journey my dashboard gave me the "ding" sound and showed that a door was ajar. I guessed that my door or Camille's door had not shut snugly and was triggering the sensor. A second or two passed and I heard the ding again preceded by a small 'click' noise. I look into my rear view mirror and saw that Camille's door was WIDE OPEN as I'm driving down the road. She had opened her own door. I didn't know she could do that. 1) Physically, I didn't know she would be strong enough to pull the latch and push such a heavy door and 2) I thought both of the back door were child locked to prevent this very thing.
So I quickly pull over and get the door shut. I check the child lock button and sure enough it was in the off position. I turn that sucker on and make sure that Camille is not scarred for life. Oddly enough she wasn't even phased. She never made a peep when the door opened and when I pulled off and got out she was just hanging out in her car seat having a grand old time. Like it was normal for a door to swing open while doing 40 down a road.

Good grief! I'm glad Camille had no idea what she had done (on the fear factor side of course). Mom on the other hand, well, glad you got off the road safely to close and safty lock the door! :-)
I remember one time when I was about 8, I was in the front seat of our truck. I was sitting forward on the seat and went to slide back and my pocket caught on the door and opened it. We were crusing at about the same speed. I didn't have on a seat belt or anything.......thankfully my brother, Brian, was in the back seat and reached up and unhooked me. I remember that freaking me out a little.....not to mention my mom!
