In crafty news...
I had this grand idea that I would make my own diaper bag. Really it would just be a tote with two pockets on the inside, but you get the idea. I was really pleased with the final product until I tried fitting supplies in there. I measured and stressed and measured and stressed some more to get the perfect size bag. And on the outside, it's the exact size I want. But I didn't factor in that it wouldn't have a gusset bottom like most professionally made bags, so it doesn't stretch very wide. But I can fit some diapers, wipes and a few burp cloths in there and that's what I use most of the time. And there's even a little bit of room in the second pocket for ointment and a pacifier and a set of keys (wallet won't fit). I bought way too much fabric so I actually have enough to do a larger size if I ever get the time.
Originally I'd planned on using the extra fabric to make Camille her own matching bag. Just something big enough to carry a change of underwear and her Bible to church. We were out last night and stopped by a fancy shop called "Rabbit in the Moon". They had Vera Bradley placemats on clearance for $6 each. Now, if you know Vera then you'll understand that she is probably appalled that her fabric was sold for such a cheap price, but I got it nonetheless. My friends made cute little purses out of placemats a few summers ago at a craft fair, so I know they can teach me to make this into a cutie bag for Camille. A little ribbon for a handle? How cute is that??
I stole this design idea from the internet. I had to search around to find the perfect clip art for each child, but here are the Big Sister/Big Brother shirts for Easton and Camille to wear next week.
And then there's the Howard Steamboat Craft Fair. I am sharing a booth with my crafty girlband friends and am going to try and sell some aprons. My goal was to make 15 aprons total - currently I've got 5 that are complete. I bought coordinating fabrics and each apron will be an inverse of it's partner. I need little catchy food names for each apron. Like "cranberry bliss" or something like that. And then I'll attach a recipe card with recipe for that food to each one.
Here's what I have so far:
The cranberry solid with stripes
Black solid with strawberriesThis little cherry guy doesn't have a partner, he came donated from Candy's fabric stash.
Here is the fabric that is waiting to be sewn. The three across the top were meant to be turned into full size aprons, but I don't think I'm going to get to those. The bottom 6 will make 12 coordinating aprons and put me over my goal of 15. They take about 1.5 hours each to make. That's 18 hours between now and May 16. Do I have 18 free hours between now and then?
And finally - the girlband baby blanket. As I've said before, my girlband friends are all yarn crafty. They each made several squares that were knitted or crocheted and all had different textures to them. Some are tight, some are loose, some have bumps, some are extra soft. It's really cool. And I'm not even upset that had their planning meetings at an icecream shop so they could surprise me.

I need one of those aprons. They are great!
I hope the baby shows up soon.
