An easy 2
So after the half-marathon we're supposed to let our bodies recover for a week and then ease back into things slowly. This morning I was supposed to do "an easy 2 miles".
Um. That doesn't exist. You would think that after 13 miles, 2 miles would be a no-brainer.
But it's not. Why not? For me running 2 miles takes just as much gumption as running 10. Which is ridiculous.
Those "easy" 2 miles seemed to take forever this morning. I was hot, sore, and had to stop and walk halfway through. And let's get some things straight. Yes, it's August. But the humidity was tolerable and there was a great breeze. And yes, I've recently completed a long race. But that was plenty of time ago that there should not be any residual soreness.
I hereby declare that running is more mental than physical.
Or I'm just a whiny-baby.
And yet I love it.

Ha, Ha!
Your morning run sounds a lot like mine, hot and painful.
Just remember, this was all your idea.
