Slowly but Surely

The deck is coming along. Spencer has put in a ton of hours this weekend. It started around lunch on Friday when Will came to help demo and continued all day Saturday. Matt came Saturday morning to help finish the demo and then by lunch Sean came by and they were ready to start building the "underneath" stuff. Yes there is a term for this, but I forgot. Something about joist and hangers and whatnot. I think the original plan was to use as much "underneath stuff" as possible from the original. But of course nothing is ever simple. It seems that the original parts are all crazy and need to be redone. So...the project continues. I think the hardest parts are over though. They're telling me that once you get to laying the deck boards things move along very quickly.

See? Up there in the top right? How the boards are not spaced evenly? They're having to pull all that up and do it over.

See that little black bump in the center? What? You thought we were going to build a new deck and Spencer wasn't getting a new grill? Silly friends...Easton was soooooo patient during this process. He wanted to help so badly - but there was just too much sawing and pounding going on for him to be in the middle of it. Finally, he just found a tape measure and entertained himself.
