Big Girl
Raise your hand if you sleep in a big girl bed!
Timeout for a bit to describe my parenting philosophy. After 3 children and umpteen friends with children, I have learned that there is very little black and white in parenting. Instead there is lots and lots of gray. All of us are different and we all adapt differently when those little ones invade our lives. Don't get me wrong. Your child should not be allowed to terrorize Wal-Mart and all of mankind. However, if you co-sleep/crib-sleep - cry it out/rock it out - breast feed/bottle feed - wear your baby/stroll your baby.....it really just doesn't matter. Whatever works for you and your family is what works. At age 18 no one will know if you used a sippy cup until you were 4 or stopped when you were 1.
So...having said that... I am a big believer (for my family) of moving from the crib to a twin bed earlier rather than later. It works for us. However, the girls' room just won't support two twin beds. We could put them side by side, but it takes up the whole room. So bunk beds are on the horizon (maybe Christmas?) and for now we are using the toddler bed option on Claire's crib.
She loves it! She thinks she is such the big girl. She's slept there about a week now and hasn't fallen out once. She's turned herself upside down and sideways, but manages to keep herself on the mattress. Well...once Spencer found her asleep under the bed but I think that's because she was out of bed finding toys/blankets/something and got so tired she couldn't hoist herself up there. I'll just say we've never heard a thump.
Here is Claire's big girl bed. I made the bedding (an easy duvet) from a twin sheet set from Target. It matched Camille's bed perfectly so I was very excited.

Oh my goodness this is a sweet little girl's room! I LOVE IT! It's funny about your comments on parenting....why is it that it takes raising kids before you come to the conclusion that a LOOOOOT of those details that you stress over JUST. DON'T. MATTER. :-) All in the circle of life I suppose. How old is Claire? I'm embarassed to ask because I SHOULD know that answer!
Claire turned 2 in April. Easton moved to a twin bed at 21 months and Camille at 25 months so it was "time" :-)
Jack just turned 2 and we should have moved him to a "real" bed about 5 months ago....he's been scaling the crib since then! Andrew, he was almost 3. He never climbed out once. Katie was like Camille.....I've never really thought about what ages they were but we certainly cover the spectrum! I really love the sweet girl's room :-) So dainty!
Their room is so sweet!
