Little Jesse
I guess it's human to question your decisions sometimes. Especially with the kids. I often wonder if I am doing the right things, saying the right things. Today, however, at least one of my fears vanished when I met little Jesse. If you don't know already, I was a thumb sucker. At least until first grade. It may have gone on even longer. (Mom will have to confirm here). So I have this irrational fear that my kids will become "attached" to some device and not be able to give it up. Paci, blanket, whatever. Even today I rotate the blankets on Easton's bed so he's not always sleeping with the same one. (A fact I should probably not admit out loud) I got a gym membership to try and lose some Camille pounds and they provide child care. As I was picking up Easton another little boy was coming in. His mother noticed Easton's shirt and mentioned that her child has the exact same shirt! When I looked at her little boy (also around 2 or 3ish in age) he was yes, wearing Easton's shirt but attached to the front of it was a clip holding a paci. I may have been able to forgive this had his right hand not been holding a BOTTLE full of milk.
So today, I will rotate the blankets yet again and rethink getting Camille and second pacifier and just let her deal with the one that she has.

I remember those "thumb sucking days" and yes it did continue until you were almost in the first grade. Needless to say by then we were a little concerned. Since you were our first child everything was sort of trial and error. We tried everything we knew to get you to stop sucking your thumb. All of the Child Psychology books, including Dr. Spock offered no solution. Your mother and I had resolved ourselves to the fact that you would begin school sucking your thumb. However,in the nick of time, your Aunt Margie came to the rescue. She brought with her the one technique that we had not considered, "FEAR". I remember the day she looked you in the eye and said, "You get that thumb out of your mouth right now. You are entirely too big to be sucking your thumb. If I see that thumb in your mouth again I will wear you out."
That may be the closest thing to a miracle that I have ever witnessed. You were instantly healed from the dreaded thumb sucking disease.
I'm going back and reading some old blog posts just for fun...do you remember your Aunt Margie saying this? :-)
