Project Potty - Day 3 Naptime Update
All right - now we're getting somewhere. I started the morning with one simple mantra: Keep him naked and hydrated. He kept asking for juice, and I kept filling up the cup. I'm sure he thought that he had won the lottery. Then I saw him getting uncomfortable. Realllllly uncomfortable. He couldn't sit, he couldn't stand. He could barely walk. I kept asking if he wanted to go to the potty and he kept saying No. One time I asked and he said No, but then walked straight to the bathroom. He screamed and cried for just a minute and then finally let loose. As soon as the stream started he was immediately quiet and happy. I clapped and cheered and did everything silly that a parent is supposed to do at such a moment. I offered him a bite of ice cream as a reward. He took it. Minutes later, he asked if he could have more ice cream. I told him he would have to potty again. He marched straight to the potty and sat down. He let out a trickle. I told him that was not big enough for a bite. Could he let out a BIG one so he could get a BIG bite of ice cream? This worked. He let go of a river. He got a BIG bite of ice cream. And he has been great all morning. What's not to love? - The kid is getting sugared up on juice and ice cream. He has been potty this morning 5 or more times without any crying and not waiting until his bladder is going to bust. I don't think we'll make it to the ball game Friday night, but we may be okay for church on Sunday.
