Happy Birthday Easton
And the party was a hit. Easton had his Sunday School friends and their families join us for a few hours last night. (Sarah was sorely missed, however.)
Everyone arrived around 4:00 and made their own party hat. A few minutes later the Elmo sprinkler was turned on and there were wet children all over the back yard. The older kids were fearless running to and fro. Easton and some of the younger ones were content to stand on the perimeter and let a few drops catch their legs. After an hour or so of water fun the kids were dried off and Easton got to open his presents. (See picture below. More pictures coming later, these were the only ones on our camera.) I was silly enough to sit in the middle of the mob and help Easton open things. Not only did he not need my help, if he had needed it, there were several small pairs of willings hands that were going to help him open those presents regardless. And play with them. Presents were opened and kids were playing so fast that I'm still finding random parts of Mr. Potato Head around the house. But then there was barbeque. We had a great dinner and got to sit outside enjoying good food, good conversation and a wonderful summer evening. Interrupted sporatically by Easton or some other child crying and screaming, "NO, LET ME HAVE THAT! MOMMY! HE TOOK THAT FROM ME!" I hate to say it, but most of the time it was my child doing the taking. I'm hoping this is a stage that will pass. There are a lot of stages that I am hoping will pass soon.
All in all it was a great birthday. The best conversations happened yesterday at breakfast and today at breakfast.
Yesterday:
Spencer - How old are you today?
Easton - Holds up two fingers
Spencer - No, today you are three!
Easton - No, Daddy. It's not my birthday yet. I have to wait till after nap, then I will be three.
Today: (a conversation with Uncle Joel)
Uncle J - Easton, are you three now?
Easton - No, I'm two.
Uncle J - But you had your birthday, now you are three.
Easton - No, my birthday is over. I'm not three any more, now I'm just two.
Seems three was a really short year for Easton.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EASTON! Even though it only lasted for an afternoon, at least he had one! :-) Has he converted to being three all the time now or is he still two?? That story is way too cute!
XOXO
