The ONEderland

First, let me apologize for being a total dork. I made sure to charge the batteries in my camera in order to get lots of photos and videos of the big event. As the day progressed, I didn't take one single picture. Nothing. Thankfully, everyone else there had their camera and took a billion pictures. I should be able to post something here in the near future.

I think my first attempt at a theme party was a hit. The paper snowflakes are still lingering in our doorways. I'm afraid that I may have started something, though. Now I'll have to do something again next year. And the next year. And the next. Already I'm trying to work the number "2" into a silly phrase. "A Night TWO Remember" perhaps?

All in all, Camille had a wonderful birthday celebration. Dutifully, she crammed coconut cake all over her mouth and (with help from the boy) got to play with each gift. I'm amazed at how quickly this past year has gone. At each stage I have tried to stash away memories of how she looked and felt. I specifically remember holding her in my arms and her feet touching the inside of my elbow. And then I remember holding her in that position and with her rump in my elbow and feet dangling on my leg. Now I am lucky to hold her at all as she will lunge for the crib when it is bedtime - no time for cuddling with Mom. Every day she is more and more sure of herself on her feet. She is not yet brave enough to let go of her support (a chair, a bench, your hand) but I suspect that walking Camille is only weeks, rather than months, away.

ONEderland---OH DEAR!!! Pretty cute, I must admit ;-)

I'm SURE your dad took enough pictures to make an entire album! I cannot wait to see the 'cake face'.

Glad she had a great 1st birthday!
