Superheroes
Easton was invited to a "superhero" birthday party today. It was held at a local firehouse. This is a great birthday party idea! The fireman came out and spoke to all the kids and they got to tour the firehouse, see the trucks, everything. Jack's daddy is a fireman, so I thought Easton would be especially excited to see the firemen and firetrucks. Not so.
When we first arrived all the children were dressed in superhero costumes. The fireman came out and showed everyone his "costume". One by one, he put on every piece of equipment and explained what it did. I thought this was pretty neat. Easton did not. Quietly, to me, he began saying, "Mommy, I do not want him to put that on." As the fireman put on more and more gear, Easton's comment became louder and louder. He was sitting in my lap, so I figured he was fine. Eventually the comments became loud enought that the fireman heard him. Realizing he was scared, he tried to interact with Easton. Again, Easton was not swayed.
Eventually the fireman put on his mask and helmet. This did it. Easton did NOT like the fully dressed fireman. Jack, seeing his distress came over to sit beside him to hold his hand. (About the sweetest thing I've ever seen). It didn't help. And then. Well, then I got the comment I'll never forget. "Mommy.......Mommy.......my pants are wet." Bless his heart. Thank goodness for Ms. Jennifer. She had clean undies and a extra pair of pants in her car. The undies and the pants were both pink, but they were dry. Easton spent the remainder of the superhero party wearning girl's pants. He didn't care. Actually, he likes pink. He choose a pink sucker today after his haircut, but that's another story.

What a great idea! Seeing the fireman in the whole get-up. Even at Jacob's age I think he would absolutely love a birthday party like this. I keep looking for birthday ideas for his birthday in April (I know...a little early yet lol). Looks like it was a great time.
Dude..awesome idea...I think that I might actually have my birthday party at a firehouse this year. MO, why didn't I think of this when we lived in Louisville?
