For my girlfriends (look away men)
Seriously - look away.
So I saw an Oprah show a long time ago that dealt with bra sizing. For whatever reason, I've been able to remember a lot of what the "experts" talked about on the show. Now that I've been dry for over a year I think I've finally settled at the size that I'm going to be. Like it or not - this is what I've got. I got a few bras at Target before Christmas but I haven't been happy with the way they fit. The Oprah expert said that most women wear a band size that is too big. I've been wearing the Target bras on the tightest hook so I figured I could try a smaller band size. But the Target bra does not come in the smaller band size so I have to try the fancy shops. I marched in to VS at the mall Saturday night and was determined to try on a bra that fit. I got the smaller band size and......it was great! But now the cups were too small. Yes, yes. The Oprah expert explained this. As band sizes go down, so do cup sizes and vice versa. A 38B has a larger cup than a 34B even though they are both "B". So, VS did not have the right combination of band/cup that I was looking for. Well, maybe they did, but not in the clearance section and I'm not quite committed to a $60 bra. I did a little online searching and discovered that my new band/cup combo is not quite that common. I considered buying a few online to try them out but I was still going off a hunch and hate to buy things online that I'm not positive will work out. On a whim, I drop by Marshall's this afternoon. And there they were. A whole rack of them. At fabulous Marshall's prices. And they fit!!! And feel great. No gapping. No slipping. Yipee!
Now...here's the fun part. Guess what I bought??? 32C
HA!!! I'm a C!!! Isn't that fun?? Not really. Because a 32C is not a real C, but it's fun to say. I'd been wearing a 34B and this is much, much better.
So...thank-you Oprah experts. They recommend that most women need to go DOWN a band size and UP a cup size for a better fit. And they were right. Try it......you'll see!

My recent VS experience yielded the same band size and a smaller cup size...go figure...AND I let them measure me...I am in between...cup sizes. I would have to say the results have been good.
You realize that the best way to get a guy to read a post is to say "Men, look away"? Instead, you should try something like, "I've discovered something very interesting about colors of finger nail polish," or "Here are some mintage figures for Ethiopian coins." Most sane people would skip to another blog. Thenyou can launch into the good stuff. If you want the girls to read it, you can put a secret cue in the subject line, like maybe a "UU" so signify it's bra-related.
i'm still waiting on the MO comment. or to watch the lack of eye contact at church sunday. been there.
the only bra i've found that fits is that 34B you shoved at me the time we went shopping. but it's $35 and i'm cheap. mom bought me a couple more for christmas, so i have 3. my band size is always too tight, like red indents around my body where it was tight. i had become a 38A for a while, but they are impossible to find. so i just wash the bras that fit a lot and buy the rest on clearance at target. oprah lies in my case - i need a bigger band.
Sorry Mark. I figured the men would read on, but at least the disclaimer permits me to pretend that they skipped this post. Or at least gives them ample warning when they expect to read fun family moments and find themselves in estrogen land instead.
As for MO - we'll be in Nashville this Sunday so I may be safe. :)
You gotta come back sometime!! And I am LOOKING forward to that!! MO
Interesting...and yet strangely informative.
