Pobre Bunny
As naptime nears it's end, I must admit temporary defeat to the bunny. I started last night with high hopes. I made my own little pattern and all the pieces seemed to fit just right. This morning I got to stuffing and wasn't even discouraged when I had to stuff poly-fill that was the size of a basketball into bunny's arm opening that had the circumference of a pencil. My first mistake came when I started to attach bunny's appendages. The first time I did it backwards. Don't laugh, it was an easy mistake. Once I removed all the tiny little stitches and then reattached the correct way, I began to assemble the "body" of the bunny. This is done by stuffing ALL the appendages to bunny's inside and sewing around the body pillow-style. It was crowded in there and very difficult. Bunny did not come through well. It seems his ear got too close to an edge and ended up being sewn to his neck. I'm not sure it can be saved as I would have to rip out the entire body and perhaps the ear and try again. It may be easier to start over and remember bunny for what "could have been". Luckily, my friend has an actual "stuffie" pattern from McCall's and it looks VERY easy to follow. And if I say a pattern looks easy then there is hope.
