HSM

If you know what those initials stand for, then you're likely to be disappointed with what I'm about to say.

Last night Spencer and I finally joined civilization and watched High School Musical for the first time. It was......um.......corny? And yes I know that Musicals are typically corny, but this one was Disney corny with a poorly developed plot. After all of the hype I was expecting more.

Of course there was that one moment where the girl stood on stage with her microphone and looked helplessly at the large crowd and said, "I can't. I can't sing in front of all of them." And then the hunky boy looks her in the eye and says, "You can do it. Don't look at them.....just look at me." And as she looks into hunky boy's eyes she finds the strength and courage to overcome her fears and sing beautiful music.

If I were a 12 year old girl that one moment would make me a HSM fan for life.

"all the hype" is definitely for the 6-13 set. it's the cheesiest movie ever. and wait til you see hsm2!!! the plot is even dumber!

but the tunes are so catchy... especially if you have 6-10 year olds that play them NONSTOP for HOURS. i have to admit i do know all the words. and there's a lot of nice harmony, which i have a weakness for.

Come on! It was good. It is hard to find a decent movie out that is not full of stuff we do not want to expose our children to. I liked it and when you are ready, I have #2 on DVR and Yes, I plan to head to the theater when #3 comes out!

Yeah, I'm not sure what I was hoping for but it wasn't really there. I think I was just over-hyped. I had heard so much for so long that anything would have been a let down. Oh, and I'm not 12. I was in love with Ralph Macchio and this guy is waaaay cuter than he was.
