Homecoming Pep Rally

Well, it's that time of year again. Today was the Homecoming Parade, Pep Rally and other festivities. Another teacher got video of our big performance.

Warning: The sound quality is horrible and the camera shakes the entire time, but you'll get an idea of what we've been up to.
Warning again: If you are a band geek - watch out. You will see kids out of step (I'm not sure any of them are IN step), crooked lines, missed holds, poor posture and a general negligence of anything that is good and sacred in the marching band world.

However.....I wanted to take 33 kids who've never marched before and teach them something that the student body would enjoy using only 3rd period band class. That much - I think we accomplished. I got the following email today after our performance:

TO MS. BARHAM AND THE BAND--THANK YOU FOR SUCH A GREAT JOB TODAY IN THE PEP RALLY. I HAVE BEEN TEACHING AT DOSS NOW FOR 20 YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST BAND WE HAVE HAD THAT MARCHES AND ROCKS IN MANY MANY YEARS. GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!!!!!!

Coming from a former band geek (non marching I may add) that was really good. Like your dad said, maybe a little attitude or a little hip-hop edge to it. The kids these days like that sort of stuff(watch the girl in the left side of the screen). Just watch the movie Drumline you'll know what I'm talking about. All in all good job!
