Name that Verb

Easton's pre-school teacher sprained her ankle the second day of school. She was able to come back to see the kids yesterday and then again today. I asked Easton how his teacher's foot was doing. He said, "Today she can stand up and did not have to do her hopping thing or her rolling thing"

It took me a minute.

You wanna guess?

I think the hopping thing means she literally HOPS to get from one place to another so no pressure is put on her ankle. I would say that crutches in a preschool classroom is just danger screaming for a kid to come near it.

The roller thing I would say is her desk chair......she might sit in it and ROLL to places she needs to go.

Keeping in mind that the power of suggestion is very high for a kid his age - I think crutches and wheelchair are correct. He gave me the hopping and rolling comment and I asked, "Did she have two sticks that she put under her arms to help her hop?" And he said yes. Similar question and response about the wheelchair. But I could have asked, "Did she use a unicycle to ride around the room?" And he might have said yes to that as well.
