No Clapping Allowed! *updated*
Boys are dumb. There. I said it.
Did anyone watch the Lousiville/MTSU game last night?? It was great. MTSU was supposed to get their pants beat and ended up playing very well. We live in Louisville. We both graduated from MTSU. This is an exciting combo, right?? A friend from town band has Louisville season tickets and offered his to Spencer for last night's game. So Spencer and a buddy (a Louisville fan of course) got to go to the game. Spencer was wearing his blue and Will was wearing his red.
I fell asleep somewhere in the third quarter and MTSU was only behind by 3 points. When I talked to Spencer this morning I was excited to hear how much fun he had at the game. He said it was a great game, but as he was sitting among a sea of "red" people, he didn't really get to cheer very much.
What??? Why not???
Okay - I understand if MTSU scores and Spencer stands up and turns around to the red people and screams, "IN YOUR FACE!!". Okay, fine. That could get a guy beat up. But clapping? A little "Hooray! for my team that just scored"?? What's wrong with that?? And an Alumni for goodness sakes...It's not like he's a UK fan that is just there to cheer against the Cards. He was a MTSU fan when we were back in the OVC and playing teams like Austin Peay. So now we're playing a top 10 team and doing a good job and the man can't clap because all the little red people would take that as a sign of disrespect and get themselves all in a tizzy over the one lone blue guy clapping for his team that eventually got beat anyways?
I repeat. Boys are dumb.
And this is reason #428 that I can't wait until football season is over.
I want to make it clear that my husband does not fall into the 'dumb' category of this story. I was just hoping that he have a wonderful time at the game and am in disbelief at the unwritten rules of fans and football and cheering.

Jenny, I love you girl, but I have to say I am with Spencer and your dad. Sports fans are serious people and they don't take a liking to "outsiders" too well.
Sorry Jenny :-)
Um..yeah definitely with spencer on this one. Me and a friend went to a Preds game against Detroit. He wore his preds jersey and I went with the Detroit one. (I'm a preds fan)but since people from Michigan are crazy I wanted to be safe. Once again a sea of red out there. He almost got beat up. Sports fans are nuts, trust me.
