I'm not complaining
So please don't hear me complaining. Because I'm not. I have a good and easy life for which I am thankful. And I will not complain.
But would it be wrong to ask for assistance? Not a lot. Just once a month from the house cleaning people? I can't believe I'm actually considering this.
side note.....
You know how a random comment will just stick with you? I think Spencer and I had been married just a year or two when we went out to a very fancy restaurant on New Year's Eve with a couple friend. My dad jokingly made a comment about how fortunate we were to be eating such fine cuisine at such a young age. He said that he was well into his adulthood before he was exposed to such niceties.
Every time we eat a meal where the bill equals a week's worth of groceries, I remember that statement. How lucky we are. And I always feel a little guilty when I think that I've splurged too much. That's kind of where I am on this house cleaning thing. Come on, Jenny. Surely you can clean your own toilets.
And yes toilets are okay. Bathtubs, showers and other things that cause me to bend over are starting to really give me and the belly grief. And I sat in my kitchen floor yesterday working on a sewing project (don't ask, it's the best space in the house) before cleaning the bathroom. And then I sat in the floor working puzzles with Easton. That was a dumb combination. Too much sitting and bending. So one of these projects has got to go. I'm keeping the boy and the sewing. Who wants to clean my bathrooms and floors? That's all I need really. I can take care of everything from the waist up I promise.

I would be delighted....and I don't mind toilets!
if it's once a month til the baby's born isn't that... once? or maybe twice? i'll do tubs if jlh does toilets!
I think that this is very reasonable. You are a 2 income household with 3 children, a maid once or twice a month to do the gritty dirty work is not unreasonable at all. I have very few friends in TX who have similar situations and do not have maids. It is about 60 dollars a month here (2 cleanings for a 2000 sq ft home) and that is what 1-2 meals out you cook instead. Very reasonable. Go for it! I will say be very diligent in your interviews of the maids, and be sure the company provides insurance in the case the house keeper gets a little rough with the duster while dancing to the blaring music and knocks over your favorite granny keepsake.
