Millie's new bag
Remember a long time ago when I found the placemat that I was going to turn into a little purse for Camille? Finally - I've finished. At first I didn't have the right color thread, and then I didn't have any ribbon to make a handle. And all of these things require a trip to the store which is hard to come by these days, so the little placemat got placed in the bottom of the sewing basket.
Until today.
Today I got a rare treat and spent the afternoon by myself. After church I had to set up my room for VBS and go visit a friend in the hospital that just had a baby. Knowing this would be pushing the Claire limit, Spencer went ahead a gave her a bottle and that gave me another chunk of time which I spent in Hancock's getting some odds and ends. While looking for a cute and sturdy ribbon to use as a handle I came across the sweetest little glass beaded handles I've ever seen. The pink is a soft opaque and the green is bright and transparent. The handles cost as much as the placemat did, but I couldn't pass them up - they were meant to be.
So here's the placemat. And then I used a little bit of ribbon to make a tab for the ring
And here are the precious handles (that lighter color is actually green not yellowish like the picture shows)
And here is the finished product.
And here again
I have a strong desire to go wake up Camille so she can do a little modeling with her new purse but I'll wait until tomorrow. Now she'll be able to hang with Big Granny.
side story - Big Granny has recently taken a liking to the Vera Bradley handbags. She told my mom that she was at a clothing store and saw a nice fabric bag that she liked but it "didn't have that lady's name on the tag" so she didn't buy it. This is probably only funny if you know my Granny.

Jenny, I enlarged the final product picture and Clayton glanced over and said, "Hey, is that the bag we bough for mom?"
:-)

CUTE! i knew it would be adorable, but that handle really makes it. great job.
Very Cute! You are terribly talented.
Camille and Claire should be very grateful to have such a talented mother. Lily will just have to settle for store bought items. :)
