Introducting....the Smock
My craft show customers (yes, all two craft shows I've done) have often asked if I made full aprons. No - I didn't. And still don't. I can't find a pattern that I love. I've seen a few that I like, but the pattern is either too difficult for me to understand or just takes too long. If I'm going to sell them then they need to be easy and quick enough for mass production.
I found a vintage smock at an estate sale and fell in love with it. Actually the fabric is hideous, but the idea is adorable. So I tried to copy it and came up with this. I like it. I need to make a few more and play around with adding pockets or maybe some trim or a button. But this is the basic idea and I think it would appeal to those wanting a full apron coverage as well as young and hip 20 somethings who wear these things as a fashion statement.

I LOOOOOVE this!!!! It's adorable! And hip! Great job!
And, by the way, scrapbook stores do the same thing with scrapbooking as your place did with quilting. I'm proud of you for going. What a great outlet! I have yet to venture into THAT kind of zone yet.
You go girl!

Do not be intimidated by the little ole ladies. You have hit on a gold mine and don't even realize it. Somewhere in that sea of blue haired beauties there is a granny who would love to take you under her wing and teach you a few things about sewing.
Lots of people feel empowered when they can share their knoweldge with others. Just think, You will be helping some little granny feel a renewed sense of worth and you will receive some valuable instructions.
