Cookie Fest - Complete!

Cookie Fest got off to a rocky start when we heard a knock at the door at 8:45. It turns out that Grace (4 year old) woke up with a 102 fever and ear ache this morning. So instead of coming to Grandma's, Grace was on her way to the doctor and Emma was left at home pouting. Ms. Cathy and I chatted a bit and will try to reschedule another cookie fest when school is out next time.

So I gathered up my three cookie makers and got them aproned up and ready to go. (Claire is very unsure of what is going on)

First we started with the lemon icebox cookies. I premade the dough last night and had them sitting in the fridge ready to 'slice and bake'. It was a good way to get things rolling and they all got to help with slicing and placing the cookies on the sheet pan. Well, except Claire. I gave her a cookie to put on the pan and she just ate it raw. I can't blame her.

Once those were in the oven, we moved on to the pecan roll ups and apricot roll ups. This involved flour and a rolling pin and wax paper - every child's dream.

Thank goodness for the aprons!
Camille really did get it everywhere from her elbows to her nose! No picture of Claire. She got a smidge of flour to play in and tried to eat it, too. So she just got to play with the wax paper :-)

The finished product:
I'm afraid these aren't going to make it to Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow. I've eaten about 70 already.
Lemon Cookies cooling on the rack. I know they're not pretty, but I'm just glad they're not burnt!
Mocha Chocolate Shortbread. By the time we got to this part the kids were bored with helping and had wandered off to find other entertainment. Which is good because there was not a lot to do for this one anyways.
The mess = not so bad. I tried to clean as I went. At the end everything could be shoved in one side of the sink (sort of)
All packaged up and ready to go!

I am ashamed of you for not making Claire her own apron. What kind of mom are you?! ;-) A plastic bib....geesh......

I wish you guys the BESTEST of Thanksgivings!!

Hugs to the Barham gang!
