Silent Auction
Next week, Easton's school (Audubon) is hosting a Literacy Night/Spaghetti Supper/Silent Auction. Those things all go together, right? On a whim I volunteered myself to make a quilt for the silent auction. Actually, I just called the lady in charge to find out the deadline for entering items and by the time I got off the phone I was committed. I was thinking of doing a baby quilt because everyone knows someone that is having a baby, but as I was searching through my fabric I came across this "Belles" panel from Loralie Designs. I bought it a while back because it was 50% off and I have 2 daughters and 5 nieces so I figured I could put it to good use. My reason for using it for the auction was a hope that one of the Audubon girls would get to take it home. It is an event for the school after all. It may be a stretch for the 5th graders but I think this could work for the younger ones for sure. And...AND I got to use my pink and green dot fabric! Alas, I used it all and there is no more. But I love those dots. It measures 51X61.
I cut apart the girls on the panel and scattered them on the quilt. This is easier said than done. No more "improv" piecing for me -the math made my head hurt. Quilt front:
