My Hero

I had lunch with Easton today. If you've never eaten lunch in an elementary school cafeteria with a table full of 7 year old boys - well you are just missing out.
It if you spend any time around our family you know that Easton is a Daddy's boy. Through and through. I feel lucky if I get a "hi mom" once in a while. But today that all changed.

So I'm sitting at the table full of 7 year old boys watching the things that 7 year old boys do and all of a sudden one of them yells "CHEESE TOUCH!".  And then another one yells, "CHEESE TOUCH!" And then they're all cheese touching one another and I have no idea what is going on. Until the little boy across the table informs me that I have the cheese touch. Pretty quickly I could figure out that this is a 2010 version of cooties. I happened to be eating a cracker with cheese so I tried to outsmart them. I explain -No, I don't have cheese touch, I am touching the cheese so that makes me immune, right? Never use the word 'immune' with a 7 year old. I totally lost them. They stayed the course. "Easton's mom has cheese touch!" I tried again, "No...I can't have cheese touch if I'm touching the cheese. See?" Again - they had no time for this silly mom who did not know the rules of cheese touch. So my sweet Easton decides to rescue me. He leans over and says, "Mom, it's okay. Give it to me." I was a little lost. "What? - What do you want?"  He tried again, "Mom - go ahead, give it to ME." I was still not following him. "Huh?"  Easton had to spell it out for his poor mom. So he leaned over and whispered, "Mom...touch my arm." So I did. And then the whole table exploded, "EWWWW! EASTON HAS CHEESE TOUCH!!!"

I think it was even sweeter than the moment he was born.

*for the record - this game was all in good fun and none of the boys were acting meanly

Very cute! Very sweet! But I wonder where "cheese touch" came from? I'll have to Google it.
