Not an apple...but still red

Teacher gifts. They get me every year. I had decided that I was just going to buy small teacher gifts this year instead of adding them on to my (self imposed) crazy long sewing list that I'm a little concerned won't be completed by Christmas anyway. But we have a lot of teachers in our lives that deserve recognition and even if I only spent a small amount, it would easily be a large amount by the time everyone got a present.

So I've been searching and searching for handmade sewing gifts that would be easy to make. And look what I found! How cute are these ruffle scarves? And thank you Hancocks for having 50% off Christmas fabrics. So I hope that teachers all over Louisville will be sporting cute holiday scarves.  I'll try a couple tonight and see what happens.

Katrina - I'm kind of making up my own pattern as I go. But there are a ton of tutorials out there. Here is a good one with pics. http://shealynnbenner.com/2010/01/ruffle-up-your-neck-scarf-tutorial-and-maybe-a-giveaway-too.html Also try "ruffle scarf tutorial" or "gathered scarf tutorial". Most say to use a jersey material (no frayed edges) or serge the edges. I'm using a really lightweight cotton so I'm going to try sewing 2 long pieces RST and then flipping. I'm using elastic thread on the bobbin. Not sure if I'll do one stitch down the middle or use two evenly spaced out.
