Fishing

I called my Dad on his birthday last Saturday. I think I inherited my love of phone conversations from him, so we chatted for an entire 4 minutes. (which, by the way was entirely sufficient) But during that time he mentioned that I needed to update my blog. So...happy birthday Papa. I figured that you would enjoy these pictures more than anyone else.

We got to spend an afternoon at our friends' farm. Originally, only Spencer was to go to the farm to get some training. (Why does Spencer need training? Just wait...) But they are fantastic and offered for us all to come up and fish and spend a wonderful evening of fellowship. Everyone caught a fish! Even Claire got one!

Spencer would like it to be noted that he not only caught a fish, but also released it and put it back in the water without assistance :-)

The training? Well...We seemed to be having a problem with raccoons getting into our garbage. We have a small creek behind our house and I guess this makes our back yard/deck/garbage an ideal place to hang out at night. Which is all fine and good (except for the mess!) until it was mentioned that they may want to come hang out IN our house somehow. No thank you. So Spencer went for raccoon training. The training has proved to be effective. The End.

4 Minutes? Was it that long?

I love the picture of Claire holding the fishing pole. That is definately a keeper.

First of all, hooray for fishing!

Second, I'd like some elaboration on "The End." Was this a catch-and-release with a steel cage "The End" or was it a let's-not-tell-the-kids-about-this "The End"? I'm guessing the latter. However, if the situation arises again, my dad has traps you can borrow. You know, if you want to take the little guys to the other side of town.
