McDreamy
Remember when I talked about my annual Girl Scout binge in which I eat an entire box of Samoas in just a few hours? Like an addict, I just can't seem to find any logic telling me to stop. I have the same addictive nature when it comes to reading a good book. I do not allow myself to begin a book unless I know I can completely ignore all other responsibilities until I finish the book. (I thought vacation was a great time to do this, but I kept getting the evil eye from my family as they played in the pool and I had my nose stuck in a book. Perhaps I'll need to stick to reading in the car only...) But I am aware of these things and I know how to limit myself. Keep sweets out of the house and stay away from the library.
And then Netflix came along. I wanted to be able to watch something on Spencer's ipad while I ran on the treadmill. Downloading shows or movies from itunes cost a fortune, but I could pay $8 to Netflix and have endless options. Fantastic! I had heard there was a series called, "Grey's Anatomy" that lots of people liked, so I started with Season 1, Episode 1.
Here's the problem. There is no pesky ritual of waiting from week to week for the next episode or even having to FF through the commercials. It's like watching one big long movie or reading the longest book ever. The story just keeps going and going and going. And I can't stop! In just a few weeks I've blown through endless episodes to make it halfway through Season 6. And it's not like I'm watching the History Channel. This is pure modern day Soap Opera that destroys brain cells. It's pretty bad, actually. (but so addictive!)
And then Lent came along. I'm a good Baptist girl, so we don't tend to recognize Fat Tuesdays or Ash Wednesdays. But this year, I thought it would be good practice to break up with McDreamy for a while lest my husband start to worry. (For those of you who are up on your McDreamy timeline - I tuned out right after Derrick had been appointed Chief, Meredith has stopped being twisty, Yang has met G.I.Joe, Little Grey has gone blonde, and the Anesthesia guy is flirting with Bailey.)
I hope that the kazillion hours that I just gained back may be a reminder to me to spend time actually focusing on the things that deserve my focus.

Jenny,
Check out Amazon Prime $79. a year. It offers lots of free movies, T.V. shows Free Books and free two day shipping on items you buy from them. In my opinion it is a lot better deal than Netflix.
You are such a pusher. What I just heard you say...blah blah blah...buy a Kindle so you can get movies/shows AND books for free from Amazon!
You don're have to buy a kindle. You can create a kindle acct. On your computer, iPad or iPhone.
