Officially Official

Guess what I got in the mail today?!?

Let me backtrack a bit. Since I've been sewing more and more, I've toyed with the idea of ordering labels to sew into things. Whenever I make the kids pj pants, I always have to sew a little piece of fabric to the waistband so they can tell the front from back. But other than the necessary reasons, I thought it would be cool to have a little something to show from whence it came. (is that a real word? whence?) Anyway, I always got hung up when it came time to decide exactly what the label would say or look like. Finally I gave up and turned it over to the experts. I gave all of my ideas to my graphic designer friend Candy and told her to have fun. I knew I did NOT want the phrase "made with love" to be involved in any way, but I liked the idea of using my name instead of trying to come up with a business/store type name. Anyway...Candy sent me a whole page of amazing designs and I got to pick the one I liked best. And then I sent it away to some Etsy lady in France and then today I got a package in the mail with my very official new labels!

I know you wanna see, so look!

I love it. So, so excited about making something so I can stick a label on it :-)
And that brings me to.....EASTER. Did you know Easter was only a few weeks away? Well, it snuck up on me somehow. I have all of the fabric and patterns purchased, but now have to get busy sewing to get the girls' dresses made. I had a dress pattern picked out for myself as well, but ditched that idea as soon as I saw this blouse pattern. (I should have looked at the directions before buying, because it's not quite as easy as I was hoping for, but I think it will be okay. Dolly will help). And then I found a big flowery print to use for a skirt.  Here are the fabrics: Flower = skirt; Navy = blouse

And for the record...I have a perfectly lovely Easter dress hanging in my closet. I bought it on super duper clearance 6 months ago and is gorgeous. So why did I just spend extra money on fabric and going to spend hours making this with only a 10% chance that it turns out to be a perfect fit with no sewing disasters? Oh yes....labels!  I knew there was a good reason :-)
