Back to Work
Yesterday was my first day back since Dec. 2nd. It was like having a whole summer break right in the middle of the year. My substitute had a rough time. I would say that 50% of it was her fault and the other 50% was my kids acting like jerks. They have 90 min classes. She thought she was doing them a favor by letting them play their instruments the whole time. (Even though I told her that it was too long for a middle schooler's attention span and she should use the written activities that I left in conjunction with their playing) And then she thought she was doing me a favor by being very strict and demanding that all of their notes be perfect. So in the end, she had a room full of kids playing only 4 to 5 measures of the same song, over and over and over for 90 min. This creates a very unhappy 12 year old who starts to think of creative ways to antagonize the sub. But that meant that they loooooved seeing me yesterday. You would have thought that I was handing out $100 bills with all of the jumping and squealing and hugging I got.
It's very strange working this part time A/B schedule. I feel like a Jekell and Hyde personality. One day I am Mrs. Barham - out the door at 6:15 and having discussions about standardized test scores and CHAMPS procedures. 24 hours later I am Mommy - still in my pj's at 9:00 and cleaning spit-up.
Ms. Amy had a good day as well. Jack and Easton seem to be oblivious to Camille. They entertain one another and don't give her a second thought. Camille is getting better at the bottle. She decreased her time from an hour down to just under 40 min. Maybe by tomorrow she'll have it figured out.
