Big Girls' Room

I'm going to be transparent and tell you that when you've reached the end of this post, you have to tell me how much you LOVE and ADORE the girls' new room. Because I'm a little on the fence myself and I need reassurance.

This is their old room. I just want to wrap up this room and kiss it and hug it and call it George. Have you ever just found the *perfect* thing? This room was my perfect thing. Many years ago as I lay on the ultrasound table and it was announced that we were having a girl, I had visions of sweet pink flowers in my head. Later, I saw those (very expensive) sweet flowers living at Target in their Shabby Chic line. I stalked them. I waited. I saved. I bought them on sale and triumphed!

Fast Forward. A few months ago we found a friend of a friend who wanted to give away her Pottery Barn White Beadboard Bunk Beds. Did she know anyone who could use them? YES! US! PLEASE! They needed a little repair (no problem, my husband is now officially handy thankyouverymuch) but were otherwise a great find for our two little girls. We would not bunk them immediately, but could use them as two twins until Camille felt comforatble on the top bunk. Spencer did his handy thing and I had to figure out the bedspread situation. Target does not sell Camille's duvet anymore so I couldn't get a match. In fact, the Shabby Chic line had gone through enough cycles that there wasn't even a good co-ordinating option that I liked. If I were Oprah I would just buy two brand new ones. I am not Oprah. Spencer asked why I didn't just make them? Not a bad idea (hello beautiful Amy Butler fabrics) but it's just not cost effective. Back to the Oprah problem. So off to Marshalls and TJMaxx I went!

I found two sweet matching sets. I think I like it. They are pretty. They are sweet. They are little girl but could also be big girl and grow with them. And Target still came through for me by having the only rug in the universe that included the colors Yellow (wall), Aqua (bedspread), Pink (curtains) and White (beds) to tie it all together. Once I got the rug down I thought it was a little much and was going to take it back and just go with nothing. But it is the thing that the girls like best! So I think it has to stay. Their table with new Dollhouse fits perfectly between the two beds and the chairs sit at the foot of Claire's bed. (yes, her bed is missing finials - we need a different size dowel I think - coming soon)
