Halloween

Usually we are not home for Halloween as it coincides with COC weekend at MTSU. But this year COC was a week early so we got to be in Louisville for Halloween festivities. Saturday night we went to a hayride/bonfire/cookout party. Sunday night our church hosted a trunk or treat event (we call it G3 - goodies, games and good news) in the parking lot. After two nights of partying, I was ready to stay at home on the actual Halloween night. I bought a sack of apples and had grand ideas of all of us making caramel apples together whilst the fire crackled gently in the fireplace. Except we're not allowed to use our fireplace. So...happy family making caramel apples? Sounds fun, right? Our neighborhood is a ghost town on the 31st anyways. All of our neighbors are of grandparent age and tend to hide inside with the lights out or go to their grandkids' houses. I mentioned this to my friend and I think she felt so completely sorry for Easton (who was not going to dig this crazy stay inside plan anyway) and somehow convinced me to bring everyone over to her house. Because she lives in a rockin Halloween neighborhood with kids all over the place and she was going to make some taco cheese soup with frito chips and mummy dogs and hot apple cider and how in the world can you say no to that?
Thank goodness I have friends to balance out my weirdness.
